Why some members will receive an email with the "name" seemingly incorrect.

This is actually a function of the email client. All the emails from MemberDay come from postmaster@mg.memberday.com. So if that email is added to an address book (usually automatically) it will take the name of the first sender. It's a weird problem that doesn't really have a good solution. We try to set the name as the sender, but email clients can override that.
