Event Registration
This article explains the difference between attendee types and tickets
Updated 6 days ago
When organizing events, it's crucial to grasp the mechanics of event registration and the distinction between an "Attendee Type" and a "Ticket."
Both attendee types and tickets serve similar purposes, but the choice between them depends on the specific circumstances of your event.
In scenarios where event registration involves optional add-ons, such as meals or workshops, employing both attendee types and tickets is recommended. For example, consider a District Convention where registrants can select from various attendee types (e.g., member, youth, spouse) and optional meals. Here, attendees would register using their attendee type and then opt for specific items by purchasing corresponding tickets.
Attendee types come into play when there are multiple attendee options or levels to accommodate. If your event encompasses different registration tiers or options, such as meals or workshops, setting up attendee types alongside tickets ensures seamless registration management.
For events with straightforward registration processes, such as admission-only events, using tickets alone suffices.
It's uncommon to solely rely on attendee types without tickets. Tickets offer flexibility, allowing multiple purchases under a single registration, whereas attendee types are confined to one registrant per registration.
By understanding when to utilize attendee types versus tickets, you can streamline the registration process and tailor it to meet the diverse needs of your event attendees.
